Montrottier Castle

Medieval Montrottier castle is located in the town of Lovagny, some ten minutes from Annecy, next to the Fier River gorge. This castle, a beautifully preserved example of Savoyard military architecture, contains vast collections of weapons, porcelains, tapestries, period furniture, and, curiously, art objects from the Far East. It is perched atop a hill which dominates the countryside. The cobblestone courtyard, medieval watchtowers and Renaissance gallery form a surprisingly harmonious structure.
